Microsoft has released the new Surface Laptop Ultra based on the NVIDIA RTX Spark™ N1X processor - this 18-core CPU, and 5120-core GPU (for the base-model) combo with NVIDIA Blackwell RTX architecture with unified memory is designed to bring full-sized machine learning to the mobile platform. The Plugable team has tested this system with a variety of our products to confirm compatibility between this new architecture and our existing product line of docking stations, USB hubs, power supplies, and adapters.
The Surface Laptop Ultra provides three USB4 ports, one with Magnetic Connect (all three support 140W charging), and one USB 5Gbps Standard-A port. USB4 is backwards compatible with USB 5Gbps and 10Gbps Type-C devices.

Setting Up Your Surface Laptop Ultra Desk
The short version: the Surface Laptop Ultra works with a wide range of Plugable docks, hubs and adapters, as long as you stay at 60Hz for now. If you want the most screens from one cable, the UD-7400PD ran five displays in our testing, three at 4K and two at 1080P. Yes, that’s five monitors on one laptop. The TBT4-UDZ ran four, with the built-in display turned off. If you’re using the 65W UD-MSTH2, keep the original Surface power adapter connected for heavier work.
These are our first results, and we’ll keep updating this list as we validate more products and spend more time with the laptop. For the background on NVIDIA RTX Spark and the questions we set out to answer, read Meet the Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra: NVIDIA RTX Spark and What We’re Testing. If your setup isn’t behaving as expected, our team in the US and Canada is here to help.
